Causal factors are split into three types:
- Contributory: A Causal Factor which does not directly cause an
Occurrence, but may have made it more
likely.
- Aggravating: A Causal Factor which does not cause an Occurrence
but may have made the Effects more serious or
costly.
- Other: A noteworthy feature, including deficiencies discovered by
an investigation, which was not an occurrence
cause, contributory or aggravating factor but which, if actioned, might prevent similar future
occurrences.
