The Commentator in ASIMS is an individual who may be assigned a report to formally add constructive comments
to; but may otherwise play no role in the management or flow of the report.
At any point once the
report has been accepted by the Occurrence Manager (OM) any user on ASIMS can add a comment to the report,
this ability can be suspended by the OM and is automatically suspended for Occurrence Safety Investigation
(OSI) or Service Inquiry (SI).
There are specified users who may be asked for comment as Subject
Matter Experts (SMEs). SMEs are commenters who are ASIMS users who will be issued reports "For
Comment" with the express intent of seeking their opinion, or offering them the opportunity to
comment.
There are commentator groups throughout the Defence Aviation Community, so allowing easy
communication with groups such Local Command, HQs, DE&S Project teams, UK low flying etc. It should be
noted that any user of ASIMS can send a DASOR report to any Commentator role group for their action.
